BEN'S BLOG: BEN FRANKLIN DISCOVERS THE 21st CENTURY NOW IN PRINT!
It is such a thrill to see my words in print once again! This whole time travel experience of mine had me a little rattled at first, but now things are a lot different. After jotting down in a journal my notes on this adventure for over a year now, I felt it was finally time to get them into print — as in the old days, when I had my own printshop back in Philadelphia.
And so, I am very happy to report, my first 21st century book has now been published ... "Ben's Blog: Ben Franklin Discovers the 21st Century" is available for all to enjoy. I must confess, however, that since my printing press did not come along with me on this time travel journey, I did have to make alternative arrangements to bring this work to reality.
What I did was what many of you people of this amazing future world seem to do so effortlessly these days -- I went online, and found that there is a company called Amazon which will publish any book, and even put it into their worldwide online "store," so that people can discover it and buy it there, without having to travel to New York or Boston or Philadelphia or Cleveland, Ohio.
Thanks to my days in the printing trade, I am somewhat knowledgeable about the business of publishing, so my own preparatory work was not that complex. As I understand, other authors sometimes take advantage of Amazon's editorial and design services to get their book off the ground. But for me, it was a fairly speedy process, and after seeing several proofs, it was finally time to tell the people at Amazon, "Start the presses!"
And the results were truly astounding. In the space of days, rather than the months it used to take me to print anything in the 1700s, Amazon produced a beautiful book that I am proud to call my own. It's even available in both print and electronic form, through their innovative "Kindle" reader enterprise.
And to think, the span of time that has passed since my previous publishing work wasn't that great -- only about 300 years! Not bad for an old writer!
So, I'd encourage you to see this new book for yourself. Just call up Amazon on your computer... and, oh yes, on your smart phone too, since you modern people apparently have figured out a way to carry around an entire computer inside this tiny little gadget you call a phone.
Your humble servant,
B.Franklin
