One wonderful thing about being here in this world of the future is seeing how inventive people still are. As an inventor myself, I really respect those who have that same creative urge to improve on things, or come up with totally new devices that can make life easier.
I did notice in the news the other day a report that a real “hover-board” had finally been perfected. As a man of the 1700s, I first had to learn what a skateboard is, before I could understand what a tremendous improvement levitating this board would be.
After it was explained to me, and I watched the demonstration of it on the picture box (which you call a TV), I finally comprehended the significance of this revolutionary new advance in transportation.
Unfortunately, my excitement was to be short-lived. A few days later, the famous skateboarder pictured in the video, Tony Hawk, confessed that the whole thing was a hoax.
Two internet stories confirmed the ruse:

Now, as I’d mentioned before, I was quite famous in my day for perpetrating a number of hoaxes and pranks. Mine were rather simple ones, limited to the printed word, of course. I have to admit, this “hover-board” stunt was quite clever, and exceedingly well done.
I had sincerely hoped that this invention was real – deprived of my horse in this world of 2014 (most cities are quite restrictive with their laws governing transportation by horse), I am finding it rather tiring to walk everywhere… or, when some spare change presents itself, splurging on an underground train ride (you call it a subway, I hear). A hover-board would have made it so much easier for me to get around.
Perhaps, if I can get the hang of this time travel phenomenon, I might be able to travel further into the future and experience a real hover-board some day!
Your humble servant,
B.Franklin
