My dear readers, I still have the knack! I am so excited to announce my newest invention — a horse that can park itself, so that travelers do not have to worry about finding a rare space in an airport parking garage!
I must confess, my idea was inspired by a news report about a robot valet apparatus at an airport in Duesseldorf, Germany. Their robot, nicknamed Ray, is a forklift-type mechanism that can take any standard car (weighing up to 3.3 tons), pick it up and take it to a designated parking space with no further worry on the owner’s part. Ben’s robot horse
My horse, on the other hand (her name is “Bessie”), does not need a forklift or any other machine — simply one of those things you moderns call a “smartphone” or “tablet,” plus an ordinary remote control.
Bessie also takes up less space than a car, does not consume precious gasoline, and is a lot more fun to ride, especially through the city streets. You don’t even need a driver’s license!
Ecologically friendly
My horse is also much more ecologically friendly; one does not have to worry about large carbon footprints (or even large carbon hoofprints), since the creature consumes easily-available oats and hay. The exterior exoskeleton is a “body suit” that encases Bessie, and is remotely controlled.
Ben’s free gift to world
And, like all of my other inventions, which I never took out patents on (because I felt that my devices should be shared freely with the world, in order to do good for people without making a profit myself), my robotic horse will also be introduced to the marketplace as “open source” or “shareware” so that everybody can enjoy its benefits without going into enormous debt or taking out a second mortgage in order to acquire it.
Also under consideration is some type of short-term pricing system, if one only wishes to employ the robot horse for an occasional trip or two. I suppose that will mean organizing a network of “rent-a-Bessie” locations…or, I could model it on another alternative franchise system, and call it “Zip-Pony,” which will work very well in urban and university areas.
High level horse advisors
I hope to set up some meetings shortly with some influential people, such as President Obama, Bill Gates, Johnny Depp (The Lone Ranger), Billy Crystal (City Slicker), and others in the equine industry, in order to gain needed support for this innovative new concept in bio-engineering. I also plan to seek out and complete all the required forms, permits, environmental impact statements, legal documents, union endorsements, rights-of-way, etc., to bring Bessie to market as soon as possible.
About the only thing left to do now is to address the matter of waste disposal. That could be somewhat challenging.
If you are interested in becoming part of this brand new venture, I would sincerely encourage you to contact me, Ben Franklin, c/o this blog. It’s the opportunity of a lifetime!
Your humble servant,
B.Franklin
